The soundboard is
made of spruce, Oregon pine or cedar, in 150mm to 180mm wide strips,
with the grain across the table.
The
soundboard of my own harp, which Gildas made a few years before
he died, is made of plywood, and sounds much more resonant than
the copies which were made from from it, which use pine ... You
can hear it here.
Apply
the same technique previously described for other harps but do not
fix the soundboard yet. This should only be done when neck and pillar
are finally screwed and glued. The reason is that the neck is screwed
to the top of the sound box from inside. It would be impossible to
do so if the soundboard were already fixed.
