graduated from music college as a violinist, and from the Estonian Academy of Music as a contrabass player.

He is in great demand with a variety of jazz groups, with whom has performed at numerous festivals. He has taught contrabass in the Viljandi College of Arts and in Tartu Music College.

A former member of the Tallinn early music group 'Linnamuusikud', he joined Via Sonora in 1990. Today Jaanus' main profession is as contrabass-player in the Vanemuine Theatre Symphony Orchestra, Tartu.
